When thinking about who I am from a professional standpoint, I think what would makes me stand out is who I am as an individual. I believe that what I offer to an organization is things I have learned through my diverse experiences in my life. Not only that but I believe my extracurriculars also helped shape me into someone who stands out from the competition. I am someone who knows that I am not perfect, and I love to learn, not a lot of people like to face adversity, but adversity excites me. I like to share my background and how that makes me unique from others in a professional standpoint. I also would like to share my job aspirations and how I believe I fit into that.
I am a 22 year old, black, adopted, male who has a brother who was also adopted to two white parents. That alone has shaped my life in a way others can never say they have. Growing up and living in a situation where you are always immersed in two different cultures, you automatically become a more open person by having to live in two worlds. From an early age I have always been an athlete and competitive, I started playing soccer at the age of three and never stopped loving it. I have played almost every sport but soccer has always came the easiest and I have always been the best at it. Being an athlete has made me never be satisfied with average and I always want to be the best. Both of these things impact me in the job field and make me not just stand out, but allow me in the job to raise above and be a standout candidate.
Now that I have told you about me as a person, my background, and how that translates to me standing out above the competition. I will now tell you about the skills I hope to refine and get better at. One of those skills is asking for help, being an athlete my whole life and competitive, I sometimes have trouble asking for help thinking it makes me look weak or that I can figure it out on myself. The other skill I would like to refine and become better on is willing to learn and make mistakes. I think this is important because you can never get better or push yourself unless you lean into the discomfort.
My dream job would be to represent a sports team. I would like to represent a sports team in a PR kind of way and keep them in a good light. I would also love to work in some way to give back to children especially those we may not have all the opportunities. I believe that I would be good to work for a sports team because of my knowledge of sports and I think my diverse background would allow me to grow that sports brand and image in the best way. I also do not tell a lot of people this, but I love to write especially poetry. So maybe something that involves writing and sports would be more of my dream job.
